Sberbank Wins the VI All-Russian Chess Federation Cup

Sber wins the 6th All-Russian Federation Chess Cup on January 31, 2026, the sixth All-Russian Federation Chess Cup among enterprise teams was held in Moscow at the Izmailovo Gamma-Delta Hotel Complex's Congress Center. For the prize places, there was a heated struggle and the fate of the championship was decided literally in the very last game of the tournament, in which Maxim Lavrov (Sber) finally squeezed out his counterpart from the VK team - Ruslan Alkaev. His victory secured the fifth in a row title of the Federation Cup winner for the team "Sber" (Moscow, in the composition of: Maxim Lavrov, Nikita Torlopov, Evgeny Okun). Two teams were 2 points behind the winners, but the total number of points (15.5 vs 13.5) was second place went to the team of "PhosAgro" (Volkhov, in the composition: Vatslav Sukhanov, Denis Makalov, Maxim Yuminov, Sergey Volkanov). Bronze Rostelecom (Moscow, in the composition: Dmitry Kornilovich, Tatiana Fatyanova, Alexey Demyanenko). In the B category (teams with an average maximum rating of participants not exceeding 1350 FSR and/or 1650 FIDE), the strongest team was Diasoft (Moscow, consisting of: Yakov Ozadovsky, Eldar Ramazanov, Andrey Andreev) with 9 team points. The same number of points was scored by the team of the New Carriage Repair Company (Moscow, consisting of Ivan Ishpulaev, Dmitry Bartenev, Andrey Safronov, and Andrey Spitsyn), but they ended up in second place in the B category. The additional indicators also determined the fate of the bronze medal, where Kaspersky Lab (Moscow, consisting of Vladimir Korolev, Vladimir Medvedev, and Denis Kachura) took the place above the team of TsNIIM (Moscow) only due to the reduced Buchholz coefficient.
